Letizia reaffirms herself as the defender queen of gray hair

Either you have lost the phone number of your trusted hairdresser or Queen Letizia has deliberately chosen to stop coloring your hair. In recent years we have witnessed a progressive darkening of her hair that, far from hardening her features, has managed to rejuvenate her image and give her a much more sober air. On this path towards very dark brown, the Queen has progressively stopped resorting to coloring to cover her gray hair, making them her new hallmark.

Far from subtly splashing her temples, Letizia’s gray hair is small strands that could easily pass as highlights, if it weren’t for its whitish color and its slight tendency to frizz. They are easily visible every time it appears with the line in the middle, either with loose hair with collected. It is, to say the least, curious that while her basic hair is getting darker and shinier – she glows health – her gray hair is becoming more and more marked and they manage to draw attention to her look, as was the case in her last appearance.

But Letizia is not the only one. Gray hair, little by little, has crept into the royal message. While caring for their skin ad nauseam to fight the signs of aging with cosmetics, vitamins or fillers and they keep their bodies fibrous and in shape, more and more members of the royalty who do not hide their gray hair. On occasion, we have also seen how Kate Middleton in some act she dropped with several gray locks, which in a few days turned into golden reflections that filled her face with warm light.

However, something very different happens with Meghan Markle, or at least it was during the quarantine. In one of her rare appearances, it was clearly observed that the Duchess of Sussex had also allowed her gray hair to camp freely in her hair … Blame for the confinement? It seems that way because in her subsequent appearances, Meghan’s hair regained its jet black color.

What are gray hair?

First, let’s be clear about the hair issue. Those whitish hairs that populate the hair over the years are nothing more than hair fibers without pigmentation. It is precisely this characteristic that makes gray hair easy to bleach, they do not resist any color that is applied on them. “In most cases of gray hair are due to genetics, but they can also appear due to personal, hormonal concerns, etc.”, he explains. Helena Reyes Comín, CEO of My Organics in Spain.

The problem with gray hair is that they add up to years and, although it is well known that age is a degree and that it only brings experience and wisdom, one of the maxims of the human being is to delay as much as possible the signs of the passage of time and gray hair they are one of the first signs to face. Faced with the usual reaction of dyeing them, opting each time for lighter colors that help to mattify these little white locks, the other option is to leave them to your free will, but keeping their silver color and preventing them from yellowing.

Experts advise staining if gray hair makes up 50% of our hair to achieve a more homogeneous and neat-looking hair. In the words of Aurea Sánchez-Coletto, trainer of Jean Louis David in Paris: “If you have already surpassed the fifty barrier and have gray hair in less than 50% of your hair, it will be easier for you to wear a gray hair with pride. The younger you are the more difficult it will be for you to assume this hair change, especially if you work in a sector that is very demanding on your physique ”.

Another important question is what type of hair can take gray better: “You have to take into account the type of gray hair, because if they are rebellious they can cause problems of frizz ”, says Helena Reyes Comín, something that we could transfer to the hair of the Duchess of Sussex, frizzy by nature. This may be one of the reasons why your gray hair will look much more in your day.

A question of style and confidence?

Thanks to roles like Meryl Streep in ‘The Devil Wears Prada’, white hair took on a certain glamor. “To some people Yes, that type of hair gives them more style and class if it is well worn and if yellowish tones are avoided, since those tones give the feeling of neglect”, Explains the CEO of My Organics. Seeing, therefore, influential women like Letizia, Meghan or all the celebrities who have shown their gray hair on social networks makes them, well cared for, regain that beauty.

And it is precisely the case of the gray hair of Meghan Markle or Queen Letizia is not the result of the fact that given the abundance of white hair they have decided not to dye, both are very well cared for and not the result of chance, as Helena Reyes highlights : “Even if you go gray, you need colored hair care and, of course, a good cut. To expose them you must have 85% gray hair and that your scalp is careful and shiny ”. Nothing by chance, quite a statement of intent.
