Lehouillier “very happy” with government announcements

Even if the Chaudière-Appalaches region remains in the red zone for the moment, Gilles Lehouillier said he was “very happy” with the announcement made Tuesday evening by François Legault concerning the partial opening of shops from Monday February 8.

This is what the mayor of Lévis mentioned on Wednesday morning, on the sidelines of a press briefing.

“The government was very aware that the rapid reopening of businesses was a condition sine qua non to continue their activities. On that side, kudos to the government for taking this step. It is not easy to take this step, considering everything that is happening in the field of health, ”he agreed.

Mr. Lehouillier appealed to the population of his region, asking them to “redouble their efforts” to be able to move quickly from the red zone to the orange zone, which would notably allow the reopening of restaurants. In the meantime, it is important that restaurateurs continue to benefit from government aid, he insisted.

“Let’s respect the instructions. Let’s respect the rules. The trend is very interesting for us. Let’s try to make the red fade a little more and we fall into the orange zone, and we have the possibility of reopening the restaurants, ”he implored.

On Wednesday, by way of a press release, the Lévis Chamber of Commerce (CCL) echoed this same point.

“The reopening of non-essential businesses will undoubtedly help many businesses in Lévis to maintain their operations until a return to normal in the coming months,” said General Manager Marie-Josée Morency.

The latter said she hoped for an imminent reopening of restaurants and training rooms.
