When tens of thousands demonstrate against racial violence in the United States and around the world after the death of George Floyd, a black American asphyxiated by a white police officer while handcuffed and showing no resistance, Lego said he was “Alongside the black community to fight against racism and inequality”.
The toy giant said that inclusion is one of its core values. “Our mission is to inspire and develop the builders of the world of tomorrow, and that includes inspiring them to be tolerant, inclusive and kind”, insisted the group.
In 2019, 25% of the group’s profits were allocated to the Lego foundation, which works in particular for children in distress. In the United States, Lego has announced that it has temporarily suspended all online advertising, but it should resume in the coming days.
