A man sold cell phones in bazaars. He did not respond after payment to the bitcoin account

“He published advertisements on advertising portals, in which he offered mobile phones and game consoles for sale at advantageous prices. He conditioned the delivery of goods by paying the purchase price in advance to the bank account of bitcoin exchange offices, “said Radek Otáhal, head of the cybercrime department in Olomouc, on Friday. In at least 28 cases, after paying the purchase price, the perpetrator never delivered any goods to any of the victims, which he did not even intend.

He used the funds obtained in this way, almost 400,000 crowns, for his own needs, or exchanged them for virtual currency. He committed criminal activities only from the territory of Slovakia. During the investigation and after processing analyzes of older file materials from all over the Czech Republic, we managed to combine other partial attacks.

“The damage caused after the merger of all partial attacks committed at least since 2017, which fit into the series, will reach at least three million crowns. The number of victims will be almost 400, “said criminologist Jiří Prečan.

In the advertisements, the accused requested contact exclusively by e-mail, using various mailboxes and creating dozens of them for this purpose. It offered for sale mainly mobile phones and game consoles in the price range of ten thousand to twenty thousand crowns. As a guarantee that this was not a fraud, he sent the buyers a copy of the documents issued to various persons. These were ID cards or driver’s licenses, but also insured’s cards.
