Legislative 2022. Timetables, voter card, health instructions… Everything you need to know in the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var for the second round

The second round of legislative elections takes place this Sunday, June 19. To vote, a few simple rules to know before moving. We take stock of the Alpes-Maritimes and the Var.

This Sunday, June 19, the voters of the 9 constituencies of the Alpes-Maritimes and the 8 constituencies of the Var are called to vote to elect their deputies.

In the Var, the polling stations are open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. However, there are three exceptions to this rule: Toulon, Hyères and La Garde extend until 7 p.m.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, the opening hours are fixed between 8am and 6pm, but there are many exceptions. For Biot, Drap, Le Rouret, Opio, Saint-Paul-de-Vence, closing scheduled at 7 p.m.

29 municipalities have obtained an exemption to close at 8 p.m.

Antibes, Aspremont, Auribeau-sur-Siagne, Beaulieu-sur-Mer, Cagnes-sur-Mer, Cannes, le Cannet, Cap-d’Ail, Carros, Chateauneuf-Villevieille, Falicon, Grasse, Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Menton , Mouans-Sartoux, Mougins, Nice, Pégomas, Roquebrune-Cap-Martin, La Roquette-sur-Siagne, Saint-André-de-la-Roche, Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, Saint-Laurent-du-Var, la Trinité, Valbonne, Vallauris, Vence, Villefranche-sur-Mer and Villeneuve-Loubet.

To vote, you must be of legal age, French, in possession of all your civic and political rights and registered on the electoral list. The voter’s card is not compulsory to vote.

However, an ID is required. These include a national identity card (even expired less than 5 years ago), passport, driving license, and even vital card or hunting license.

In municipalities with less than 1,000 inhabitants, the procedure is simplified: no identity document is required. “But in case of doubt, the president of the polling station can ask the voter to prove his identity by any means“, noted the Alpes-Maritimes prefecture on its website.

Wearing a mask remains strongly recommended for fragile people, symptomatic people, contact cases at risk and people who have tested positive for Covid-19, up to seven days after their release from isolation.

Masks, hydroalcoholic gel and self-tests are available. Proof of vaccination, test or recovery does not pcould in no case be required of voters, members of the polling station, officials mobilized on polling day or scrutineers.

There is no mandatory dress code for entering a polling station, but there is three bans.

Clothing should notcarry a message of a political nature, they must respect “good morals” and not obstruct the control of the voter’s identity.

The voter must take the ballots of at least two candidates before going to the polling booth. The objective: to guarantee the secrecy of the vote.

Refusal to isolate oneself incurs a fine of up to 15,000 euros and one year in prison

In the Alpes-Maritimes, 7 municipalities are equipped with electronic voting machines: Antibes (partially), Saint-Laurent-du-Var, Mougins, Valbonne, Mandelieu-la-Napoule, Vence, Villeneuve-Loubet.
