Five-year-old toddler disappears after arrival at Brussels Airport …

The Halle-Vilvoorde public prosecutor’s office has issued an investigation message for a five-year-old boy who has disappeared. Remarkably, the boy already disappeared in the summer, but the message is only now being announced.

The boy, Ahmad, had landed at Brussels Airport on June 20, accompanied by a man named Khaled Berho. Both were from Greece, but the next day, June 21, Berho left for Greece again, admittedly without little Ahmad. Since then there has been no trace of the boy.

The investigation began, according to judicial sources, when Khaled Berho was stopped from his return to Greece because it turned out that he had false identity papers with him. It soon became apparent that the man had traveled to Belgium with Ahmad, but had returned alone. On the outward journey he had pretended to be the child’s father, but that was probably a pretext.

“Most likely this is a story of people smuggling and there is a good chance that little Ahmad is already in another country again,” he said. “But we hope someone will show up who can tell where the boy has gone or what happened to him.”

Persons who have seen Ahmad or know where he is staying are asked to contact the police. Discretion is thereby assured. Anyone who has seen Ahmad or knows where he is staying, can contact the investigators on the toll-free number 0800/30300 or via Child Focus on the number 116 000. Witnesses can also send an email to sporingen@police.belgium.eu.
