Leave information about Afghan staff, British diplomat sparks anger

Acceptance

For politicians English criticized British diplomats for reportedly leaving contact details of local staff Afghanistan while evacuating the Embassy in Kabul, which is now guarded by the group Taliban.

As reported AFP, Friday (27/8/2021), the findings came as British authorities acknowledged its hasty evacuation efforts left hundreds of Afghans at risk and eligible for relocation.

Newspaper reports The Times Written by a veteran war correspondent, Anthony Loyd, he said he found undamaged documents revealing contact details for Afghan staff and job applicants while touring the British Embassy compound guarded by Taliban fighters.

Mentioned The Times that it called the contact number listed on the document, and found some staff still in Afghanistan and trying to escape. The Times handed over the contact number to the British Foreign Office so they could be evacuated.

The British Foreign Secretary, Ben Wallace, told radio LBC that he knew this from a front-page report in The Times.

“Obviously that’s not good enough. I think the Prime Minister will ask some questions,” he said.

Britain is scheduled to complete the evacuation in a matter of hours. Wallace acknowledged that around 800 – 1,100 Afghans who were eligible for relocation could not be evacuated.
