Learn about the traffic regulations for heavy transport during Holy Week – Publinews – 2024-03-17 16:00:45

The vehicle load increases during Holy Week, as several families take advantage of the longest break of the year to travel to the interior of the country. To this extent, the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure and Housing (CIV) announced the provisions that will be taken during the main week and that will allow the fluidity of traffic.

This March 15, through ministerial agreement 264-2024, published in the Official Gazette, the authorities announced the circulation restrictions for heavy transport. On March 27 (Holy Wednesday) from 12 noon its circulation will be prohibited and will remain until March 31 (Easter Sunday) at midnight.

This measure is excepted for the transport of cargo of products: perishables, fuel, beverages and food and cranes. These will be able to circulate and will not require special permits.

INFRINGEMENTS

Article 3 of the aforementioned regulations states that those who violate the provision will be sanctioned in accordance with current laws. And the only way they can circulate is the following:

• From kilometer 290 of the CA-9-North highway, to the facilities of the Puerto Barrios railway terminal and to the facilities of Puerto Santo Tomás de Castilla.
• From kilometer 80, highway CA-9-Sur to the facilities of Puerto Quetzal, kilometer 104 of route CA-9-SUR-9 and kilometer 114 CA-9-SUR.
