League of Nations. Joachim Loew furious after the Germany-Spain game

The clash between two European powers always electrifies football fans, especially if the game is at stake. The coach Joachim Loew, like Jerzy Brzęczek, took into account the fatigue of Bayern Munich players that ended with a season in the Champions League and the main architects of success from Lisbon did not appear at the team training camp. So the substitutes were given the chance, and the coach could check them against the background of an extremely demanding rival. It was like that, although Luis Enrique gave some rest to some of the main players and Jordi Alba, Diego Costa, Isco, Saul Niguez and Alvaro Morata did not appear on the pitch.

Germany led almost the entire second half after a goal by Timo Werner, but gave themselves the victory in added time. Then Jose Gaya scored the equalizer.

The coach of the German national team did not hide his fury after the match. Loew has a grudge against UEFA for not taking into account the good changes he believes have occurred in other competitions during the pandemic.

German coach Joachim Loew complained about the demands of the players in the current planning. At the beginning he explained that he did not understand that UEFA did not apply the five-substitution rule in the Nations League, which was used in the Champions League.

– I really don’t get it. I am angry with this decision. It was applied and I think it was a great success. I don’t know the reasons that led to the decision not to do this in the League of Nations. Of course it was noticed. There are players who can barely run. After a few practice sessions, they must play 90 minutes. I don’t know for what reasons it was not possible to keep the good rule – said the German coach.

In the previous edition of the League of Nations, Joachim Loew asked for five changes to be applied. However, the postulates were then rejected due to regulatory provisions. The rules of the League of Nations have not been modified and must remain the same throughout this edition. Therefore, the request of Spain and Germany could not be accepted.

In addition, the German coach complained about the calendar. “I am an employee of the German federation and I am glad that my team is playing, but I do not understand the arrangement of such a calendar in which we have three games to play in less than a week. It is impossible,” Loew thundered.
