Russia does not believe it is at war with NATO, because such a development would increase the risks of nuclear war and should not be allowed. This was stated tonight by the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergei Lavrov in front of Al Arabiya TV. Unfortunately, however, he expressed the feeling that NATO thought it was at war with Russia.

A number of leaders in Europe and the United States, and of course European Foreign Minister Josep Borrell, have openly said that Putin must lose, Russia must be defeated, Lavrov said.

According to him, the use of such an expression means that someone is at war with the one you want to win. Lavrov said Russia and Ukraine would have already achieved significant results in the talks if Kyiv did not change its position on the orders of the United States and Britain.

He assured that his country does not threaten anyone with nuclear weapons, but the West is talking about this.

Lavrov stressed that the shipment of foreign weapons to Ukraine is a legitimate goal of the Russian army. Ukraine’s attacks on Russian territory show that the goals of the war must be achieved as soon as possible, the Russian foreign minister said. He assured that no Western security guarantees for Ukraine would cover Crimea and the two separatist republics in the East.

Most of Russia’s key partners have agreed to use Moscow’s proposed methods for paying for natural gas, Lavrov said.
