Update 14:13 – Nearly 4,000 new infections in the last day
In the past day, 3,972 new corona infections were reported to the RIVM. That is the highest number reported to the health service to date. On Friday, it was still 3,829 new cases.
Amsterdam is still the biggest stinging hair: 367 new infections have been counted in the capital. This is followed by Rotterdam (282) and The Hague (209). In the Hollands Midden region, which includes Leiden and Gouda, 307 people were tested positive.
The death toll in the Netherlands has risen by 21, bringing the number of confirmed deaths since the corona outbreak to 6,449. It does not mean that all these corona patients have died in the past 24 hours. For example, no corona deaths were reported on Friday.
Update 12:59 – Massive wedding party with 180 people in Tilburg
The police ended a wedding in Tilburg on Friday evening. Due to the stricter corona measures, thirty people were allowed to attend, but officers counted 180 people. According to a police spokesperson, the eviction went smoothly.
No fines have been handed out to the wedding guests and the police have not recorded the details of everyone, the spokesman confirms reporting by Broadcasting Brabant.

Update 12:24 – Eredivisie match canceled after infections at RKC
The match between RKC Waalwijk and PEC Zwolle on Saturday evening is canceled. At the home club, four corona infections have been diagnosed in the past 24 hours and therefore eight players have to be quarantined. According to the Brabant club, that number can still rise. It is the first time that a match in the Eredivisie is canceled due to corona infections.
The decision was taken after consultation between the KNVB’s union doctor, the RKC Waalwijk club doctor and the GGD, the football club said on Saturday afternoon. “None of the parties thinks it is responsible to bring the RKC Waalwijk group of players together to play the match against PEC Zwolle. The health and safety of players and staff is paramount. ”
