Gazi University Faculty of Medicine Head of Public Health Department and Member of the Social Sciences Board of the Ministry of Health. Dr. Mustafa Necmi İlhan said that they have observed that the rules are not followed in holiday resorts recently.
According to the report of DHA, Prof. Dr. İlhan stated that they saw that physical distance was not observed and masks were not worn, especially on beaches. Stating that there is a false perception in people that ‘coronavirus is not transmitted in the sea’, İlhan said, “However, coronavirus can be transmitted in the sea. People in the sea are coughing and sneezing because people enter the water. Meanwhile, if the physical distance is not followed, a coronavirus patient can be transmitted to other people if he is in the water and coughs. People on the beach come out of the sea and sit without physical distance. The sea, the beach, places where people come together from many different places, people from Istanbul, Ankara, perhaps from the place where the epidemic is more intense, there is another risk there. “Changing cabins, showers and toilets are narrow spaces and places where there is rapid human entry and exit. If ventilation and disinfection are not done enough in these places with fast circulation, we can say that the coronavirus transmission is high from here.”
