LAMENTIN. Trained in risk prevention for working at height

In one of the courses at the Bertène-Juminer vocational school, scaffolding serves as the backdrop for the launch of the regional training platform for the prevention of occupational risks for working at height. The regional authority chose yesterday to install this technical platform within this establishment already dedicated to the building trades. At its side, three other partners for the signing of an agreement and the commissioning: the Academy of Guadeloupe, the General Social Security Fund (CGSS), the National Research and Security Institute and the Direction de l food, agriculture and forestry (DAAF). Working at heights can be a risky activity, and accidents occur on roofs, pylons or even scaffolding every year. “The purpose of this platform is to train high school students, to consolidate their teaching of health and safety at work,” declared President Chalus during his speech. It meets the new provisions required in terms of diplomas and training standards. ”

The Region financed the equipment and works valued at 400,000 euros. It also made available rooms and a warehouse for removable structures. Both public and private companies will be able to benefit from the platform for continuing education. “It is one of the best equipped platforms in the country, assured the president, to train in the prevention of occupational risks related to work at height.”

To work safely

The Region wants to mark “its attachment to providing learners and Guadeloupe businesses with quality tools, in an important sector of activity for the revival of our territory. ”

For his part, Patrick Tacita, the principal of the Bertène-Juminer high school, is delighted with the establishment of this quality platform in his establishment. “This corresponds to current requirements, he recalls, continuing: all those who work at height must be able to do so in complete safety”.

At the end of their training, they will obtain certification. About ten teachers and RSMA staff were thus trained for fewer accidents, fewer falls and fewer shaky structures. It is now up to them to train the trainees. “It will be used by all establishments, but also training centers, such as Greta, and companies”, he adds.
