La Liga boss finds behavior De Jong and other Sevilla players inadmissible | NOW

La Liga boss Javier Tebas has no good word for the behavior of Luuk de Jong and his teammates from Seville. The striker was discredited by photos where he was barbecuing with Lucas Ocampos, Franco Vázquez and Éver Banega.

“In the past few hours, we have discovered that some players have not followed the health rules and shared it on social media,” Tebas wrote in a letter to all La Liga clubs on Sunday.

“This behavior is incomprehensible and unacceptable,” said the 57-year-old Spaniard. “They jeopardize the completion of the competition. Any misstep is a lack of respect for La Liga, the clubs, the players and the coaches.”

The 29-year-old De Jong was seen earlier in the day in photos that were shared via Instagram by the wife of midfielder Banega. He later apologized for the incident. Schooling in Spain is still strictly prohibited due to the corona crisis.

In addition, the incident is inconvenient in view of the restart of the Spanish league. On Saturday, after permission from the government, it was announced that La Liga can be resumed from 8 June. After the Bundesliga, it is the second top league that continues again.

Tebas wants to resume competition with the Sevilla derby

Tebas also announced that it wants to resume the competition on June 11 with the Seville derby. In that case, the confrontation between Sevilla and Real Betis will be the first match in La Liga in over two months.

“There is a plan to resume the season on Thursday, June 11 with a unique match, which will pay tribute to all victims of the virus,” said Tebas in the Spanish radio program El Partidazo. “I hope that date will be confirmed soon. We would like the league to resume at 22:00 with the Seville derby.”
