La Jornada – EZLN will participate in intercultural meetings and dialogue in Europe

San Cristóbal de Las Casas, Chis. With the certainty that the struggle for humanity is global and that the ongoing destruction does not recognize borders, nationalities, flags, languages, cultures or races ”, hundreds of organizations, artists, writers, intellectuals and other people from more than 30 countries , the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (EZLN), the National Indigenous Congress (CNI) and the Indigenous Government Council (CIG) agreed to hold “meetings, dialogues, exchanges of ideas, experiences, analysis and evaluations among those of us who we find ourselves engaged, from different conceptions and in different fields, in the struggle for life ”.

According to the first part of “A declaration … for life”, released this Friday, the meetings on the European continent will take place from July to October of this year, “with the direct participation of a Mexican delegation made up of the CNI-CIG, the Front of Peoples in Defense of Water and Land of Morelos, Puebla and Tlaxcala and the EZLN ”.

They added that at later dates to be specified, they will be held at meetings in Asia, Africa, Oceania and America.

In “A declaration… for life”, signed by Commander Don Pablo Contreras and Subcomandante Insurgente Moisés, on behalf of the EZLN, they stressed that “the survival of humanity depends on the destruction of capitalism”, therefore “we do not we perform, we are not for sale and we do not give up ”.

They stated that “during these previous months, we have established contact between [email protected] by various means. We are women, lesbians, gays, bisexuals, transgender, transvestites, transsexuals, intersex, queer and more, men, groups, collectives, associations, organizations, social movements, indigenous peoples, neighborhood associations, communities and a long etcetera that gives us identity ” .

They invited “those who share the same concerns and similar struggles, all honest people and all those who rebel and resist in the many corners of the world, to join, contribute, support and participate in these meetings and activities since sign and make this declaration yours for life ”.

They assured that it is not possible to reform the capitalist system, nor to educate it, attenuate it, file it, domesticate it or humanize it ”, so it is“ a commitment to fight everywhere and at all hours –everyone on their land-, against this system until it is completely destroyed. .

They said they had “the certainty that the struggle for humanity is global” and “just as the ongoing destruction does not recognize borders, nationalities, flags, languages, cultures or races, the struggle for humanity is everywhere, all the time. ”.

They also stated that they had “the conviction that there are many worlds that live and fight in the world, and that any pretense of homogeneity and hegemony threatens the essence of the human being: freedom. The equality of humanity is in respect for difference. In their diversity is their similarity ”.

They added that “they differentiate us and distance us from lands, skies, mountains, valleys, steppes, jungles, deserts, oceans, lakes, rivers, streams, lagoons, races, cultures, languages, histories, ages, geographies, sexual identities and not, roots, borders, forms of organization, social classes, purchasing power, social prestige, fame, popularity, followers, likes, coins, level of education, ways of being, chores, virtues, defects, pros, cons, buts, without embargoes, rivalries, enmities, conceptions, arguments, against arguments, debates, disputes, denunciations, accusations, contempt, phobias, philias, praise, repudiation, boos, applause, divinities, demons, dogmas, heresies, likes, dislikes, ways, and a long etcetera that it makes us different and, not infrequently, contrary.

Among the more than 30 Mexicans who sign the document are Pablo González Casanova, Gael García Bernal, Daniel Giménez Cacho, Alfredo López Austin and Juan Villoro.
