Komnas HAM Talks About the Case of Persecution Mario Dandy: The Perpetrators Must Be Punished

Jakarta

Chief Komnas HAM Atnike Nova Sigiro spoke about the abuse case committed by Mario Dandy against Cristalino David Ozora alias David (17). Atnike said every perpetrator of abuse should be punished.

“Of course from a human rights point of view, if there are members of the public who commit violence against other communities, then there must be law enforcement. The perpetrators must be punished according to the applicable law,” Atnike told reporters, Tuesday (7/3/2023).

Atnike said, if the victim is a minor, there must be special protection. Even so, according to her, in the context of women, attention must still be paid to the context of protecting women.

“For minor victims, there are other protections, for example protecting the privacy of minors. Including allegations that other minors are involved, this must still be considered in the context of child protection,” he said.

“In the context of women facing the law, it is necessary to pay attention to the principle of protection for women, where violence is against requests, framing against women in the media requires the principle of caution in spreading photos because it includes minors,” he continued.

Furthermore, Atnike said the law must be upheld. However, it still does not violate the principle of child protection.

“Law enforcement must be but the principle of protecting children must be put forward. It can’t be because of course we hate violence, then we commit another crime, the next violence will come later,” he said.

Previously, the family revealed the latest condition of Cristalino David Ozora alias David. So far, David’s condition continues to show positive developments.

“Thank God, David’s condition is showing more and more positive day by day. So there are good developments. His level of awareness has also continued to increase,” said David’s uncle, Rustam Hatala, to reporters at Mayapada Hospital, Kuningan, South Jakarta (7/3).

Rustam said David had often opened his eyes. However, David was not yet fully awake.

“David’s current condition is that he often opens his eyes and continues to make a response. But he’s not fully conscious yet. So he has opened his eyes, can see, but doesn’t recognize yet,” said Rustam.

David became a victim of abuse by Mario Dandy on Monday (20/2) night at a housing complex in the Pesanggrahan area, South Jakarta.

In this case, the police have named 2 suspects, namely Mario Dandy Satriyo and Shane Lucas. In addition, there is a young girl with the initials AG whose status as a child is in conflict with the law or the perpetrator.
