A great honor for Jürgen Klopp: The Liverpool FC team manager has been voted manager of the year by his coaching colleagues after the Reds’ outstanding season and first championship in 30 years.
Klopp succeeds Sheffield United’s head coach Chris Wilder, who received the prestigious “Sir Alex Ferguson Trophy” after promotion to the Premier League last season.
“I am absolutely thrilled to get this beautiful trophy. It is really beautiful,” said Klopp.
Klopp on Ferguson: “As if I met the Pope”
When he remembered his first encounter with Manchester United coach legend Ferguson (78), the German was also enthusiastic.
“We had breakfast together. For me it was like meeting the Pope. At that moment I never thought that I would one day hold the trophy named after him,” said 53 -Year old.

The five-time award winner Ferguson paid tribute to Klopp in a video message.
“You absolutely deserved it. The performance of your team was outstanding, your personality covered the whole club,” said the Scotsman and joked: “I forgive you for waking me up at half past three in the morning to tell me that you won the championship. “
Klopp had dominated the Premier League season with Liverpool, with 99 points in the end. The lead over the first chaser Manchester City was 18 points.
