Vinales insists Yamaha hasn’t improved anything with the 2020 bike since the Malaysia test in February and admits he can only pray for the perfect bike in Valencia if he still wants to compete in the race. “It’s impossible with the bike we have today,” he said when asked what he should do to close the gap with Mir.
“Suzuki is currently on another level. So, we can’t do anything about it. We just need to pray to have the perfect bike in Valencia, the perfect start, be first and see if we don’t lose positions.”
“I will try to be fresh, try to give good feedback to the people in the pits so they can give us the best bike. We don’t have the right weaponry against Suzuki, because it seems they are able to turn faster, have more cornering speed. more and less wide at corners, “explained Vinales.
“So you can’t recover all of this just by opening the gas. We have an idea, but for sure it will be very difficult to improve the bike because we didn’t improve anything from the Malaysian test.”
“If the bike works well, we will be good. If it doesn’t work, we will try to survive and try to give maximum results,” he explained.

Explaining what went wrong in the race, Vinales said he lacked grip from the third lap on his soft rear tires and a lot of problems in the front tires. “We didn’t have a grip on the tires during all these races, I had a lot of problems on the bike,” he added.
