Jürgen Klinsmann is no longer a coach from Hertha BSC. He announced this on his Facebook page. He had only taken on the job as the successor to the hapless Ante Covic at the end of November. He wanted to resume his position as a member of the supervisory board, however, because of his training as a coach.
The former national coach announced this decision with a long statement on his Facebook page, in which he sharply criticized the club manager, who was not mentioned by name, around sports director Michael Preetz and President Werner Gegenbauer.

The club itself was surprised and apparently not informed. Hertha said it had no knowledge of resignation so far, the club announced a few minutes after Klinsmann’s announcement.
“We were surprised by this development in the morning. Especially after the trusting cooperation regarding the personnel decisions in the winter transfer period, which is intensive for Hertha BSC, there were no signs of this. We will provide information about further developments in due course, ”said Preetz a little later.

As head coach, he needs the trust of the people involved in this task, Klinsmann wrote: “Unity, cohesion and focus on the essentials are the most important elements, especially in the relegation battle. If they are not guaranteed, I cannot exploit my potential as a trainer and therefore cannot live up to my responsibility. ”

Klinsmann had taken Hertha in 15th place in the table. Despite massive investments in the squad during the winter break, he was barely able to improve the sporting situation, the Berliners are currently in 14th place and six points ahead of the relegation places. At the weekend, the team had lost 1: 3 in their own stadium against FSV Mainz. Klinsmann had three wins, three draws and three losses in nine Bundesliga games.
In an interview with WELT AM SONNTAG in January, he explained his plans: “First step: away from the cellar, take a deep breath. Second step: reach the Europa League next season. He no longer directed the training in the morning, this was done by his assistant Alexander Nouri. It is unclear whether the former Werder coach remains in office himself. Niko Kovac or Bruno Labbadia could be considered as successors for Klinsmann. Both names were traded in autumn.

Therefore, after a long consideration, I came to the conclusion that I would be made head coach of Hertha and that I would retire from my original long-term role as a member of the Supervisory Board.
The fans, the players and the staff have grown dear to me during this time, of course, and that is why I will continue to thrill with Hertha. I am still looking forward to many encounters in the city or in the stadium.
