“We are moving towards 70% of unscheduled operations”

It is still a little too early, this Tuesday, April 6, for the prefect of Moselle, Laurent Touvet, to be able to deliver, during his weekly update, the effects of the long Easter weekend on the pandemic.

Incidence rate and screening

First figure given, that of the incidence rate shows 332 (cases per 100,000 inhabitants) in Moselle and 323 in Metz Métropole. To be compared to the number of people screened, voluntarily or forced – in particular for frontier workers – which is 7.5% of the population over the week and 30% over the month. More pleasing, this incidence rate on the side of the elderly is 207. A drop that the prefect explains by vaccination.

11,700 injections over the Easter weekend

Since the start of the vaccination campaign, 253,000 injections have been carried out in Moselle on 181,000 different people. This represents 17.5% of the population, 66% of whom are over 75 years old. “Just over the Easter weekend, the vaccination centers deployed on the territory carried out 11,700 injections”, specifies the prefect when Marie-Odile Saillard, director of the CHR of Metz-Thionville, wonders about the fact to know “who else can take care of the vaccination”, apart from the necessary staff at the bedside?

A legitimate question in view of the “extremely tense” situation that she describes between the walls of hospitals.

Additional armament level envisaged

Faced with the tension on the open beds in the hospital, Marie-Odile Saillard confided that “the prospect of a move to a higher level of armament” was being considered. Concretely, this would switch the Moselle from level 3 to 4 and “would be carried out in two stages”, confides the director of CHR Metz-Thionville. First, to push the hospitals to “move towards a deprogramming of their other operations”, so that they can “fend for themselves”, to be able, then, “to arm additional beds”, but this on the condition that ” external human reinforcements “are available or that” our material and human forces are regrouped on one or two sites, while closing certain structures. A plan already in action since deprogramming affects more than 50% of operations. “We are moving towards 70% of unscheduled operations”, confides Mme Saillard.

National education and organization

Stating that the National Education had invested in new resources and the training of its teachers, Olivier Cottet, the academic director for Moselle, affirmed that the latter were “stronger and better prepared in the exercise of the digital practice that ‘at the first confinement. “. Each received “precise instructions to keep in contact with the students”. And those whose parents are caregivers or homeland security will be welcomed for the next four weeks. Emphasizing “the responsiveness” of the process on Tuesday, he said that today “1,421 students, all levels combined, have been received in schools, colleges and high schools in the department. ”
