Doom Eternal: id Software reportedly has “many DLCs” in stock – News

Three weeks ago, we got our hands on Doom Eternal, which is still scheduled for release on March 20. If what has been shown seems exciting, it seems that id Software still has a lot of content in store.

According to the Official Xbox Magazine, the content of which was relayed by Next segment, the studio intends to support Doom Eternal by broadcasting a large number of DLC. If no micro-transaction will be present ingame, it is not yet known whether this content will be completely free, only partially, or fully paid for. Still, the idea guiding this decision echoes the follow-up to Doom 2016, which, when released, was not entitled to additional content:

Honestly, it is through demand that we do it. We see hundreds of thousands of players continuing to play Doom 2016, and we have nothing (for them). They asked for more DLC, they asked for more ways to play, and honestly, we went straight into developing Doom Eternal without giving anything to them.

We are very excited about the higher difficulty levels, the many DLCs we have in stock, and the new challenges that we can offer on a monthly or weekly basis. We will continue to support Battle Mode, add Invasion mode … There are so many things we want to do after launch, including giving players what they want, fueling the game, and giving them bringing a varied experience.

Doom Eternal should therefore be supported for many months after its release, it remains to be seen whether the content that will be offered will motivate players to remain captive of the title.
