Jokowi Threatens Reshuffle, Fadli Zon Proposes President Evaluation of 2 Sectors This Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Deputy Chairman of the Gerindra Party, Fadli Zon, highlighted President Joko Widodo’s statement at the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace that threatened toreshuffle working cabinet.

According to Fadli, there are two sectors that the president can evaluate if he wants reshuffle cabinet namely the health and economic sectors.

“Now this should be a priority in the health sector related to the handling of Covid-19, including in the economic field as well as other fields that are considered relevant,” Fadli said at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Wednesday (1/7/2020).

Fadli considered, President Jokowi’s statement at the State Palace was an acknowledgment that the performance of a number of ministers was problematic.

According to Fadli, if this was not followed up it would delegitimize the president.

“This recognition, if not followed up, will degrade or delegitimize the president himself, so the president should take steps on his speech. If not, his speech is considered to be wind then,” he said.

Previous President Joko Widodo conveyed the threat of a cabinet reshuffle in front of his ministers during the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace, Jakarta on June 18, 2020.

At first when opening the meeting, Jokowi conveyed his resentment to the ministers because he was still working normally in a time of crisis like this.

In fact, President Jokowi requested an extraordinary policy to deal with the crisis, both the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the economy.

“This extraordinary step is really something we have to do. And I open the name, whether it’s a political step, or a government step,” Jokowi said.

“I will open it. Any extraordinary step I will take. For our 267 million people. For the country,” the President said.

Then what extraordinary steps can Jokowi do?

According to the former Governor of DKI Jakarta, this extraordinary step could be in the form of issuing certain rules, even the dissolution of institutions and reshuffle of the cabinet or reshuffle.
