Johan Budi Interruption Meeting, Propose Tito Karnavian Not to Reshuffle Page all

JAKARTA, KOMPAS.com – Member Commission II DPR RI from the PDI-P faction Johan Budi | proposing the Minister of Home Affairs ( Minister of Home Affairs) Tito Karnavian not accepted by the United Indonesia Cabinet.

This statement was conveyed by Johan in a Commission II working meeting with the Ministry of Home Affairs at the Parliament Complex, Senayan, Jakarta, Monday (6/29/2020).

“Of course I also suggested that the Minister of Home Affairs not be reshuffled. The thing is I heard there will be reshuffle, “Johan said.

Initially, DPR Commission II Chair Ahmad Doli Kurnia Tandjung would close the work meeting, because the meeting was not attended by Minister of Justice and Human Rights Yasonna Laoly.

However, Johan interrupted and stated that he agreed with the decision of the Chair of Commission II.

He considered, the absence of Menkumham in work meetings related to the discussion on the Perppu on Pilkada was a matter of commitment.

Johan said, if the government does not have a commitment to the absence of Menkumham, then the local election on 9 December 2020 should be postponed.

“This is a matter of the authority of Commission II. We don’t have the authority to be harassed like this, there is no clarity and the government is asking for postponement on December 9,” Johan said.

“It means that if the person asking for it is not committed, I think it needs our firm attitude if we are not present, if there will be a decision regarding the delay on December 9,” he continued.

Furthermore, Johan suggested that Commission II send a letter of reprimand against the Minister of Law and Human Rights.

Then, he made a proposal that the Minister of Home Affairs should not be consulted by the cabinet.

“Secondly, if Commission II concludes there is a letter of reprimand to the Minister of Law and Human Rights through the President, through the DPR, of course, of course I also suggested that the Minister of Home Affairs not be reshuffled because I heard there would be a reshuffle,” he concluded.

Previous President Joko Widodo conveyed the threat of a cabinet reshuffle in front of his ministers during the Plenary Cabinet Session at the State Palace, Jakarta on June 18, 2020.

At first when opening the meeting, President Jokowi expressed his annoyance at the ministers because he was still working normally in a time of crisis like this.

In fact, President Jokowi requested an extraordinary policy to deal with the crisis, both the Covid-19 pandemic and its impact on the economy.

“This extraordinary step we really have to do. And I open the name of which is either a political step, or a step of government,” said President Jokowi.

“I will open it. Any extraordinary step I will take. For our 267 million people. For the country,” he continued.

Then what extraordinary steps can Jokowi do?

According to the former Governor of DKI Jakarta, this extraordinary step could be in the form of issuing certain rules, even the dissolution of institutions and reshuffle of the cabinet or reshuffle.

He then conveyed the threat of reshuffle for his ministers who were still working mediocre.

“It could be, dissolve the institution. It could be reshuffled. I have been thinking everywhere,” said President Jokowi.
