When Donald Trump (74) ran for office for the first time in 2016, his family became some of the world’s most talked about people. Perhaps it was especially the women in the family, and especially his wife Melania, who got a lot of attention. The future first lady, who had a modeling past and married Trump at a young age, quickly became a scandal-ridden woman.
There has not been as much writing about Jill Biden (69), who is now the Americans’ new first lady. The 69-year-old former teacher has been married to the Democratic presidential candidate since 1977.
I without victory speech night to Sunday Biden thanked his wife Jill, the children, the grandchildren and the rest of the family.
– Jill is going to be a great first lady, I’m so proud of her.
Jill Biden is popular with her husband’s followers, and is seen by many as one of the best things that could have happened to him.
Was the rescue
She came into his life during one of the most demanding periods the president has ever been in.
One of the greatest sorrows he has experienced came as a result of a fatal accident in 1972. Just a few weeks after he was elected senator in Delaware for the first time, he received a phone call he will probably never forget.
His wife Neilia, whom he married in 1966, had taken the three children – Beau, Hunter and Naomi – on Christmas shopping in December. On the way home from the trip, their car was hit by a car at an intersection. Two out of four never came home again. His wife was only 30 years old, and his daughter Naomi was only one.
At the time, Jill Biden was a young student. She has stated that she only managed to meet Neilia once, and that she wished her luck in the first senatorial election.
Little did the young student, then known as Jacobs’ last name, know that she would take the place of the woman she had greeted.

Burdened by enormous grief, he was sworn in as a senator next to Beau’s hospital bed in early 1973 – just a month after the horrific accident. The first years without his wife and daughter were tough. He worked full-time as a senator, but traveled an hour and a half each way, every day, to be a family man in the evenings.
But even though family and politics were in focus, over the years he managed to find love again. In 1977, he married teacher Jill, who took his last name after the wedding.
It was not entirely without a fight, however. He had to be free five times before she finally said yes.
– I always said “not yet”. At that time I had fallen in love with his sons, and I felt that this marriage really had to work. The boys had lost their mother, and I could not let them lose another mother. Then I had to be completely sure, she has stated Vogue.
Jill Biden had been married once before. From 1970 to 1975, she was married to Bill Stevenson. The broken marriage was also one of the reasons why she wanted it to work properly this time.
Clear support
The couple moved together, and in 1981 they had their only child together – daughter Ashley (39). The boys also got a stepmother. However, the time was anything but easy for the family.
– I fell in love with a man and two little boys who stood in the wreckage of an impossible loss. They missed a wife and a mother; a daughter and a sister. I could never imagine that as a 26-year-old I would ask myself how to patch up a broken family, Jill Biden has previously stated, according to News.
– Joe always told the boys that “mom sent Jill to us”. And how could I argue about that? We had to figure things out together, she continued.
–
In August, Jill Biden spoke after her husband was formally nominated as the Democrats’ candidate. Then she gave a unique insight into how the relationship between her and the politician had been.
– Like so many of you, I am left with the question: How do I keep my family safe? said the potential first lady.
“My husband will bring us the same and make us whole, lift us forward in this difficult time and keep the promise to America for all of us,” said Jill Biden in her speech.
Becomes historic
In contrast to black-painting her competitors, in her speech she was concerned with drawing a human picture of her husband. He has undergone more grief than many have to deal with.
– When your son Beau died of cancer, I wondered if you would ever smile or feel joy again. It was summer, but there was no heat left for me.
–
She then praised her husband for how he coped with the loss and continued to work after he died of a brain tumor in 2015.
– Four days after Beaus’ funeral, I saw Joe shave and put on a suit. I saw him steel himself in the mirror, take a deep breath, shrug, and go out into a world that no longer had our son. He went back to work. That’s who he is, said Jill Biden.
She will probably be a first lady with a focus on love and family values. However, she has stated that she will continue in the teaching job, which she has at Northern Virginia Community College. She also worked here while her husband was vice president of Barack Obama.

Jill Biden has two master’s degrees, which she took while teaching English to young people at a psychiatric hospital. She later earned a doctorate from the University of Delaware, which she submitted in 2007.
She has been a professor of English at Northern Virginia Community College since 2009, becoming the most educated first lady in US history.
