Joaquín Padilla continues fighting to break with his job expectations. The singer of La Ruleta de la Suerte, who achieved success before television as the singer of the band Iguana Tango, seems to have no ceiling when it comes to his professional career.
The singer rose to fame with his group Iguana Tango and, especially, after the launch of I lost you. This hit was playing for several weeks on all radio stations in the year 2008, launching the group nationally. Since 2012, the vocalist participates in The wheel of luck as a singer who accompanies the musical panels. Her fame has been widely commented on, since social media has been very critical of her participation.
However, Joaquín has been a fixture for more than a decade, until this week, when it was announced that he would be gone temporarily. From the network itself, nothing has been said either, the only thing that is known was what Jorge Fernández commented: “Joaquín will not be able to come for three days, more or less”. It is well known that his role in La Ruleta is not the only commitment in which Padilla invests his time. In addition to entertaining the interludes of this legendary Antena 3 contest, the artist has been working on a project for years with which he has become a pioneer in Spain: a rock opera in Spanish that has become quite well known among fans of the genre.
However, now Joaquín Padilla has surprised with a new facet thanks to which he has taken to the stage to do more than just sing: act.. The artist has fulfilled one of his dreams after debuting as a musical actor for a work on the level of ‘Jesus Christ Superstar’.
“Yesterday I was playing in Barcelona with @soybernardez and @lasketchup_official at the @transperfectmountainchallenge festival today we have the general rehearsal of the play Jesus Christ Superstar. It must be that the thing about Mr. Rest on Sunday is mere talk. In less than a week we will be premiering at the Cervantes theater in Valladolid. It has been a wonderful journey, a challenge on a personal level, because the character is very demanding vocally, but it is teaching me so much!! I have some incredible colleagues, with a lot of talent, full of enthusiasm until the eyebrows that are making everything so easy!! I can’t wait to see you next Saturday,” he says on his Instagram profile.
An experience that must have been incredible for the musician and that has left him speechless. “I’m still assimilating last night’s experience!! Without a doubt one of the most beautiful of my career. Incarnating Jesus in a work as wonderful as this musical has been a fascinating journey. My colleagues were superb (thank you for being so incredible), the sold out theater stood up with an endless ovation… Many emotions. Give me a few days to recover and I’ll leave you a longer post or a video telling you things about how it was,” he said.
Joaquín Padilla is very loved by his teammates. The lucky roulette singer arrived at the contest stage the other day, “before the rest of his classmates” and made a nice reflection.
“Today I was early on the set of @laruletadelasuerte when no one had arrived yet, not the audience, not the contestants, not the kids… and I was thinking about all these years, something that started as an adventure that we did not know the continuity that I was going to have, and more than 12 years have passed. The truth is that I think about it and it’s still difficult to assimilate. Twelve years on a daily program!!!!! Bufff. It’s really amazing. And being audience leaders we all every day. It’s incredible!! I can’t have anything but words of gratitude. Your loyalty is something fascinating. Thank you, really. It’s been a wonderful challenge, complicated at times, but very rewarding. When someone like me comes to play with his band, for years you always played the same songs. With Iguana Tango, as we released an album, three or four new songs were included in the repertoire but basically you always sang the same thing, and they were songs made by you, adjusted to you. What I do Right now it is a real game of constant balancing, every day on the wire, on the tightrope… and I love it!! Without a doubt, it is being a very enriching journey, so thank you for sharing it with me!!”
A message to which Jorge Fernández did not hesitate to respond with an emotional message. “What you do is really difficult partner!! You have enormous merit and the whole team knows it! You are a crack!!! CONGRATULATIONS for your daily work!!!”.
