Jerez test: this is how the SBK riders avoid the Honda / World Superbike muzzle

In reality there is no news from the three days of winter testing at the Circuito de Jerez, but the World Superbike riders are communicative. What leaked from the first day of testing.

As the Jerez circuit has been booked by Honda’s MotoGP test team, they are also dictating the rules for testing this week from 13-15 December. Applications for accreditation from journalists and photographers, including those from participating teams, were rejected.

With social media and smartphones snapping sharp images, it was clear the Honda-imposed news blackout wasn’t going to last long. So it didn’t take long before the first images and statements appeared on the Instagram accounts of Superbike riders, among others, especially with Honda factory riders Iker Lecuona and Xavi Vierge and MIE newcomer Eric Granado.

“Despite the conditions, I am satisfied with the day’s work,” said Vierge. “We took steps in the right direction and managed to improve the feeling in the wet.” Lecuona added: «Really positive. We worked a lot in adverse conditions. Let’s see how Wednesday goes, because we still have a long way to go. For now, however, we have promising results”.

Of course, this is not far-reaching information that has been posted by drivers. However, the test work was only possible to a limited extent on a wet track and repeated rain.

Also present at the test was the Yamaha factory team with Toprak Razgatlioglu and Andrea Locatelli as well as GRT with newcomers Dominique Aegerter and Remy Gardner. While Aegerter described his first impressions of the R1, Razgatlioglu released a short statement via Instagram.

“I had a great day with the number I feel best with – 54,” said the dethroned world champion. “We spent the first day of testing in the rain and we improved significantly.”

Granado and Bonovo in action BMW driver Garrett Gerloff has posted photos and videos.
