Jenny Skavlan (35) is well known for its ardent commitment to reuse. On Instagram, she constantly shares snippets where she sews curtains for dresses, tablecloths for blouses, or gives a brand new design to an old Fretex dress.
Together with Mari Nordén, Ingrid Vik Lysne and Ingrid Bergtun, she started the company Fæbrik two years ago, with the goal of inspiring reuse.
– Must do something with my lifestyle
In express speed, the Fæbrik ladies have come close to each other as colleagues. In everyday life, there is little time to talk about what they think about each other’s efforts and what happens at home.
Those conversations will now be taken in the podcast «fÆb», Jenny Skavlan tells Se og Hør.

– Pretty dark humor
With the podcast, the 35-year-old hopes to, among other things, entertain the followers who spend time sewing Fæbrik-inspired garments. In addition, she hopes to inspire others to pursue their dream, and share tips on what it takes to run a company.
– There are a few female gründere, and most of the capital invested in start-up companies goes to companies with male owners. So we are a small exception there, so I think that is an important side of it.
– We may change our minds
With “fÆb”, sewing enthusiasts fear that their image as magnificent can get a bang. The gang goes wholeheartedly into sewing projects, and is strict with themselves with climate in mind.
She therefore thinks more people may be surprised by the jargon in the group.
– We are also sloppy, and may not be as magnificent and proper as we may seem. And it’s not just about the environment and clothes and things like that, but we probably sound a little more like a stereotypical hockey wardrobe than a classic sewing room.

She elaborates:
– We probably have a rather abrupt tone between us, and we have quite a lot of dark humor. There are many things we do where we think like this: “I do not know if it can withstand the light of day”, and then we will see how much light it gets, says Skavlan, and emphasizes that girls must not be afraid to take space, or try to be fun.

«Bridgerton» and red wine
Already in the teaser episode, the ladies have offered more than just reuse. The snippet discusses, among other things, the pregnancy body and herpes. The openness of the gang makes Skavlan proud.
– They are so open, smart and funny. So I’m a little bit in love with my colleagues because of this. So it can be a kind of “date night” like a couple has to keep the relationship alive. It’s a bit like a love affair to work so closely together.
Reveals new job
Skavlan also reveals unknown aspects of himself. Among other things, she says that she feels meaningless if she does nothing of function.
– I think it is a little dependent on it, that you get rewards. I have a profession that is driven by a lot of response and recognition. That you get likes, comments, at least when you post something or when you are on TV and things like that, she says, and adds:

– When you have not done something that creates some kind of response, you have somehow not worked. It’s a very strange thing, which is not true. One cannot place such expectations on oneself or place one’s happiness in the hands of such superficial things. So you have to have a conscious relationship with that, because it’s easy to get carried away.
When she first takes time off, she feels naughty. Still, she does not say no to alone time if possible.
– Then I watch “Bridgerton”, bathe and drink red wine. I am very fond of being alone. After I had children, I could almost miss myself a little, because I have always had a good time in my own company. So I enjoy all the time I can get for myself, I’m pretty good to hang out with.
Touched to tears by the cohabitant’s gift
From Monday, however, there are podcasts that will be written into Skavlan’s timetable in the future. Then the first episode is published.
– When you hear about those who have a five-year anniversary or release their episode number 500, it is strange to think «where are we then? What have we shared then? How intimate does it feel? ». For now, we’re just having a lot of fun, so we’ll see where it goes.
