An American mother is being prosecuted for murder in Texas. She is accused of killing her 6 year old child to collect her life insurance money.
Desperate for money? A 25-year-old mother is on trial in Texas for the murder of her 6-year-old baby boy. ABC 13 reports that Ashley Marks would have caused the death of the child on June 27, 2020, by giving him drugs in the body, including methamphetamine and cocaine, causing him a fatal overdose. Little Jason also had in his blood “toxic amounts of chlorpheniramine, dextromethorphan and diphenhydramine”, explained the medical examiner. ABC 13 explains that chlorpheniramine and diphenhydramine are commonly known as over-the-counter antihistamines. Dextromethorphan is a cough suppressant commonly found in cough syrup.

The boy and his 4-year-old sister were living with their grandfather at the time of Jason’s death. It was he who discovered the child’s lifeless body and called for help. They had been in her care since they both fell ill: they had contracted tuberculosis in April 2020. The mother then came to bring them their medicines. But according to social services, unlike her brother, the little girl refused to take them. Shortly before the tragedy, the grandfather telephoned the mother to let her know that he no longer wanted to take care of them and that she had to come and get them. “The grandfather said he repeatedly contacted the mother over two days to inform her that the 6-year-old was ill (vomiting from projectiles, hallucinations, inability to sleep), but neither the mother nor the the grandfather did not call for help as his condition worsened, ”the (…)
