Jarny. Two million euros for a health center at Espace Gilbert-Schwartz

In January 2020, we learned that Jarny wanted to host a mutual health center. The objective is twofold: to complete the offer of local care, but also to act on the problem of the emergency saturation of existing hospitals, in Briey or Metz. Rather than planning for a health center (it would still have been necessary to find doctors to attract there, which is never won), the town hall had opted for a project in partnership with the mutualist group Oxance and the regional hospital center from Metz-Thionville.

The subject returned to the forefront of the news, on the occasion of the vote of the original budget of the City. Indeed, elected officials explained that two types of expenditure were planned: 50% of the investment budget for “intervention expenses” (road repair, public buildings and sports infrastructure, among others) and 50% for ” major projects of the mandate ”. Including the famous mutual health center. A budget of two million euros must be devoted to it. The council voted to register € 577,000 for this year 2021.

Project details

A year ago, the mayor, Jacky Zanardo, confided, about the installation of the future center, that “the choice of the heart would be a rehabilitation of one of the old buildings of the Jarny mine”. Finally, it will be installed on the top floor of the Gilbert-Schwartz space (the building where we already find the Inter-municipal Social Action Center). It has a large plateau of 800 m². A house on rue Claude-Humbert, which belongs to the City, will accommodate medical interns and doctors who intervene occasionally in Jarny. As well as the creation of twelve parking spaces, on the right-of-way of the garden.

This center will, in the long term, make it possible to take charge of unscheduled care acts, but also “health promotion and prevention actions.” Details were also provided on the schedule. The agreement between the various partners should be signed in April, for the new establishment to be operational … in “spring 2023”.
