It is Budstikka which reports the death. Alver was first a journalist, and then, from 1983, a news editor at the newspaper. He also had a background from, among others, Bladet Tromsø and Norges Handels- og Sjøfartstidende.
“A bauta has passed away in the Norwegian press”, writes his friend and colleague Leif Agnar Ellevset in a memoir in Budstikka.
Ivar Alver was born in Gryllefjord on Senja, but spent most of his life in southern Norway.
In 2003, Alver became nationally known as one of the profiles in NRK’s reality show Eldebølgen. In particular, the close friendship he and fellow participant and fellow Norwegian Henry Høgmo – by the way the father of Per Mathias – developed.
