Announced in January 2021 by the President of the Republic, the Assises of mental health and psychiatry were to be held before the summer. They will finally take place in September, the government announced in a press release on June 15. Led by the Elysée and Matignon, they must constitute a ” response to the strong concerns expressed regarding the mental health of many French people following the unprecedented Covid-19 crisis, and in particular among children, young people and the most vulnerable people “, According to the Ministry of Health. This national event should make it possible to ” draw up a shared inventory of mental health and the offer of care and support in order to trace the prospects for improvement ».
A consultation now closed
Preparatory work is underway under the leadership of the National Commission for Psychiatry chaired by Professor Lejoyeux. An online consultation, in May, made it possible to collect nearly 15,000 responses from professionals and the public (users, relatives and caregivers). The analysis of its results is in progress. Even if this consultation is now closed, an email address ([email protected]) allows those who wish to continue to submit their ideas. The Assises Steering Committee, made up of fifteen personalities, will meet for the second time on June 17 to finalize the program for this event.
The medico-social on the sidelines?
