Italian tourist who tested positive for coronavirus dies in Puerto Rico



The Health Department reported today, Saturday, that the 68-year-old Italian tourist who arrived in Puerto Rico on the Costa Luminosa cruise ship died and tested positive for coronavirus.

“We report the death of the Italian patient who was traveling on the #CostaLuminosa cruise ship, and who tested positive for # COVID19; the presence of other risk elements in her condition, which will not be disclosed for privacy reasons, prevented her recovery”the agency tweeted.

Meanwhile, the Ashford Presbyterian Community hospital in Condado, where the patient was being held, confirmed her death in a press release sent by La Fortaleza.

“Despite the fact that he was offered all the necessary medical care, the presence of other risk elements in his condition, which we will not discuss for privacy reasons, prevented his recovery”, they read the written statements.

The medical director of the institution, Dr. Rafael González, assured that, at this time, they do not have COVID-19 positive patients in the institution.

The death was reported by the hospital to Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in Atlanta.

On the other hand, Health confirmed that the positive cases of coronavirus increased to 21 today, Saturday. Of these, 11 are from the Veterans hospital.
