Israel’s Military Campaign in Gaza: 15,900 Killed, Including Women and Children

The authorities have identified the remains and informed the next of kin.

The two Israelis were captured on October 7, when Hamas launched a large-scale attack on Israel.

In the Gaza Strip, for every Hamas militant killed, about two civilians die, senior Israeli army officials, who wished to remain anonymous, admitted on December 4.

The Ministry of Health in the Hamas-controlled Gaza Strip has announced that Israel’s military campaign in the Gaza Strip has killed approximately 15,900 people, most of them women and children, following the October 7 attacks by Hamas on Israel.

The media have reported that around 5,000 Hamas fighters were killed in this campaign.

When asked about these media reports, one of the Israeli army officials told reporters that “these figures are more or less correct”.

“I’m not saying it’s not bad that [nogalināto civiliedzīvotāju un kaujinieku skaita] the ratio is two to one,” said one of those officials, adding that the use of human shields is part of Hamas’ “core strategy.”

“Hopefully this one [attiecība] will be much smaller” in the next phase of the war, the officials added.

The growing number of people killed and the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip have caused outrage in many countries around the world.

Israel began bombing the Gaza Strip and later an invasion of ground forces with the aim of eliminating “Hamas” after this group’s militants attacked Israel on October 7. Hamas militants murdered around 1,200 people and kidnapped around 240 more in this attack.

Israel’s ally the United States has warned to do more to prevent civilian casualties as Israeli military operations move into the southern Gaza Strip, where many of the area’s residents have taken refuge after fleeing the northern Gaza Strip.
