Al-Marsad newspaper – Agencies: Israel claimed responsibility for the attack that occurred outside Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza City, which eyewitnesses say resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens.
Videos from the scene showed several bloodied wounded people scattered on the ground near an ambulance.
15 people were killed and 50 others were injured, according to Hamas-run health authorities.
Israel said in a statement that it targeted the ambulance because it was being used by Hamas.
The IDF statement said: “An IDF aircraft bombed an ambulance that forces identified as being used by a Hamas terrorist cell near its location in the combat zone.”
The Israeli army added in its statement: “The attack led to the death of a number of Hamas terrorist activists. We have information proving that Hamas’ modus operandi is to transport terrorist activists and weapons in ambulances.”
A spokesman for the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza, who was at Al-Shifa Hospital, Dr. Ashraf Al-Qudra, said that the health authorities organized an ambulance convoy from the hospital heading to the Rafah crossing, and informed the International Committee of the Red Cross about this step.
