A rescue dog bought on Facebook killed a man and had his brother amputated his leg

A grieving woman recounted how an old ‘loose’ dog killed her brother and had his husband amputated his leg by simply ‘chewing’ it with his bacteria-ridden teeth.

Pauline Day, 62, has revealed how a Japanese Akita named Ted ruined her family’s life after her brother bought her as a pet for £1,500.

Little did the family know that Ted – who looks like a “giant teddy bear” – had deadly bacteria crawling in his mouth.

But in July, Pauline’s brother, Barry Harris, 46, died at his home three days after Ted injured his arm, causing an infection and having a heart attack.

And just a month later, Ted Butt was Pauline’s husband, Mark, 61, when he walked the dog on the day of Barry’s funeral.

Mr Day, who has been hospitalized since late August, had all the fingers on his left hand amputated and will lose both legs next week due to sepsis caused by bacteria in Ted.

Day, from Colchester, Essex, said: “They weren’t even attacked. Ted really ruined my husband and brother’s skin.”

“He is the most gentle dog but has nutritional problems. Whenever he is near food, he is very aggressive.

“We believe he was abused as a puppy.”

Harris, the main employee, bought Ted from a personal Facebook salesman in a London apartment in May this year for a good company after going through a breakup.

The seller told Mr Harris that Ted, who is 15 months old, was well trained but when he got home he found that the dog didn’t even respond to his name.

On July 7 – after less than six weeks together – Ted bit Mr. Harris was trying to get the animal bones out of his mouth while walking around and his arms were rapidly swelling up and he was sweating cold and had a headache.

Three days later, Harris tragically died at his home after his heart stopped beating.

At Mr Harris’ funeral on August 19, Mr Die took Ted for a morning walk and was bitten by a dog on his hand.

He had “ice-like feet” the next day, but kept him drunk until – three days later – he was taken to hospital with a temperature of 39°C, before he had a heart attack and multiple organ failure.

The doctor told Ms Day that Mr. Day is “100 percent” due to a bacterial infection from a dog.

Mr Day, a construction worker, has been in hospital since and now his leg will be amputated next week due to sepsis. I already have seven fingers removed.

“It’s like a nightmare,” said Mrs. Day, “You really can’t believe this has happened.”

“My brother’s shock was a thing and then my husband. It’s not real.”

Mrs. Day had put pressure on Ted the same day the doctor said Mr. Day is caused by bacteria from a dog.

He also checked the documents Ted’s owner gave to Mr. Harris when he bought the dog earlier this year and found that he had no vaccination record.

“In the brochure there is nothing about vaccination.

“They gave him a fake date.”
