Comedian Ismo Leikola is one of the presenters of Top Gear Suomi.

This is how comedian Ismo Leikola describes it Top Gear Finland -new series descriptions.

In addition to Leikola, the domestic version of Top Gear is hosted by ex-hockey player Teemu Selänne and actor Christoffer Strandberg. The composition did not know each other beforehand and this brought its own additional spice right at the beginning of filming.

– Everyone was excited about how our chemistry works, how the flap starts to fly. Everyone was super relieved and happy after the first day of filming.

Already the first minutes revealed to the trio that it was going to be fun.

– The happy feeling continued even when the cameras started rolling. It was really natural to work with them, Leikola praises.

“Mega big surprise”

During the season, the presenters are accompanied by changing celebrity guests. Leikola admits that he has been a die-hard rally fan all his life, and in the first episode he really gets to work with his teacher Mikon with leadership in the rally school.

– This is where you get such a weird feeling, Leikola states and gets up to gasp for oxygen after a few rides.

Soon he will be in front of the “biggest screen of his life”, when his driving skills will be evaluated by five world rally champions: Ari Vatanen, Timo SalonenJuha Kankkunen, Tommi Mäkinen and reigning champion Kalle Rovanperä.

– I also got an incredibly big surprise. There was also quite a lot of pressure to perform and do things while everyone is watching, Leikola amazes Iltalehte.

The surprises don’t end there, as the episode also features a rally race. Leikola gets to race with his teacher, Vatanen, Salonen, Kankkunen and Mäkinen.

“The brightest history of motor sports,” as the comedian describes his competitors.

– I ran away from my childhood heroes, Leikola recounts the twists and turns of the rally.

– In the end, I just drove knowing that this touching moment will never happen again.

You don’t bother with cars

Leikola reveals that he has always had a strong competitive drive. This seemed to fit the format of the program perfectly.

– Sometimes we drove hard. After all, there were sweat cranberries in the pants, it’s not better to mess up. We even got to hang out.

Leikola says that he is unable to follow the program in Los Angeles at the pace of its publication. However, he has seen some clips, and the new series has attracted interest abroad as well.

– Here and in other parts of the world, some acquaintances have asked if they can watch the program. I have answered them that the program is in Finnish after all, the comedian laughs.

Everyday life in Los Angeles demands that you have to have your own car. Leikola jokes that public transport does not rely on “two metro lines”. Even though owning a car is almost a necessity, the comedian has never given up on his spending sprees.

– I have had Bemari for a long time now. I like it, it’s not expensive but a basic trick.

– I have never bought a new car in my life, but always a used one, Leikola reveals.

Leikola is not interested in cars as a collecting hobby, but the charm of speed definitely has its charm.

– I want to be able to get on the rally track every now and then and drive at full speed. You have to have a slightly different car for that, a safety bar and everything… You won’t go to the store with one like that anymore.
