iPhone SE is not the newest phone by default – and therefore does not become obsolete for a long time
In January 2019, three years after the release of iPhone SE, The Verge journalist Nick Statt released an article about my experience using this model. Then he called the phone “minimalistic” – advanced enough to perform basic functions, and outdated enough to not be tempted to use slow-down applications like Slack or the Twitter client.
Statt bought SE at a discount as a simple “dialer” – he wanted to stay in touch and not be distracted by social networks. It can be assumed that in a few years, when the price of the second generation SE drops, the phone will start to be bought with the same goals.
A similar opinion is shared by Dmitry Andreev, editor of the Medusa issue department. He bought SE before Nick Statt, in the summer of 2018: “It was rather a necessary measure. Then I had OnePlus 3, and after the next drop to the floor the screen dripped. It was then that I realized the disadvantages of owning a not-so-popular phone: fixing it was much more difficult than buying a new one. Therefore, an iPhone for about 20 thousand rubles was a real salvation. “
Andreev recalls that switching to a phone with a small screen was a test for him – neither watching a video, nor reading a text was a pleasure. “But hey, but this iPhone fits easily in your pocket. And he has a mini jack! And he shoots pretty well. And, of course, the case of the iPhone 5S, which is almost no different from the “five” – the last iPhone made under Steve Jobs – is a real masterpiece of industrial design. And not a single question to speed and optimization, ”says Dmitry.
The only thing that upset him in SE was the battery, which over time became worse to hold a charge. “Of course, I also dropped my budget iPhone several times, but I couldn’t fatally damage the screen. And even if he could, then I think I would instantly fix it in more or less any shopping center, ”Andreev summarizes.
