IOS 5.4 Lightroom Update irreversibly deletes photo libraries

Lightroom is undoubtedly the best photo editing application on smartphones and tablets. The free version gives a lot of possibilities, the paid version unlocks additional tools (masks, straightening) and support for RAW files. Of course, you can discuss Adobe subscriptions, you can get angry at the quality of customer service, but the truth is that the alternatives are … bad. Especially when you’ve got into the habit of working with the interface there, you have your settings, etc. But despite complaining about Adobe regularly, sometimes things get worse than bad. Just like now – when updating the iOS application (for both iPhone and iPad) to version 5.4 deleted the entire library of users’ photos.

Updating Lightroom for iOS to version 5.4 deleted user photo libraries

After updating to version 5.4 of Adobe Lightroom on iOS and iPadOS, users began to complain about materials disappearing from their libraries. First of all, it is about photos, but with them also disappeared settings (so-called presets), a library of which some have created for years – and they did not have any backup. Actually, in the case of mobile LR, it’s no wonder as managing, importing and exporting them still requires a lot of combining. Rikk Flohr on behalf of Adobe spoke and admitted that the company is aware of the bug and … is fixing it by releasing an update to version 5.4.1. However, this does not change the fact that all users who have lost photos and settings have no chance of recovering them.

Let me remind you: we are talking about the most popular photo editing software in the world – an update of the mobile application has irretrievably deleted all photos for users. Some users of the Adobe forum wrote about over 8,000. lost photos. The most lucky ones were those who used the Adobe cloud and had them all synchronized, the copy there remained. Others – they can only spread their hands and cry, or make sure that they do not have photos saved on the camera card and system photo libraries.
