By Sebastien Rouet

An investigation was opened after the dissemination on social networks of the death of a sheep which would have served as a toy during a party near Champagnole, in the Jura, on March 27.

The images are unbearable. Monday, March 29, journalist Hugo Clément disseminated on his social networks a fact bringing animal abuse to its paroxysm.

A sheep offered as a birthday present

A sheep died after presumably being used as a toy at a birthday party. The animal was a gift given to a friend as part of the evening. The facts would have taken place this Saturday, March 27 in the sector of Champagnole, in the Jura, reports the Voice of Jura.

Videos from the evening were shared on Snapchat. The journalist from France 5 relayed one where we can see the animal painted in several colors and dragged on a leash among the participants, with the caption “The mascot”.

An investigation is open

“The mascot”, or even the “thing”. This is how the sheep is called in a voice message again broadcast on Snapchat. Its author took a photo of a participant in the evening posing proudly, thumbs up. the air, next to the animal’s corpse Hugo Clément was able to discuss with the author of the photograph.

If he confirms that the sheep was indeed offered to a person of the evening, he explains that the animal was “not mistreated”. He would not have noticed the death until the next day, without being able to determine who caused it.

It is therefore up to justice to shed light on this tragedy. As reported by France 3, the Jura Public Prosecutor’s Office opened an investigation on Monday for alleged “ill-treatment of animals”. The Brigitte Bardot Foundation and the 30 Millions d’Amis Foundation have filed a civil suit. The latter recalls that these facts come shortly after a badger was tortured to death during a party in Isère.
