“Digital Ambassadors” is the name of a project by young people from Darmstadt and the sister city of San Antonio in Texas. Videos are also planned in the future.

This year, students from Darmstadt would have actually planned to visit their peers in the Texan sister city of San Antonio. But this was due to the corona.

That is why a total of 22 young people from both countries got together and set up a joint newspaper project. This was presented on Monday in Darmstadt in a virtual press conference. Under the direction of Marion Torres from the American organization Summer of Service and Christian Mayer from the Bildungswerk der Hessischen Wirtschaft, pupils at the Erich Kästner School in Darmstadt, together with young people from San Antonio between the ages of 11 and 15, made contributions to various school systems both countries, Frankenstein Castle or German and American sports. The publication of videos and newsletters is also planned, it said.

The exchange with the “cosmopolitan and intercultural” San Antonio is a special attraction, said social affairs officer Barbara Akdeniz (Greens). The newspaper deals with topics that interest young people. cka
