Person of interest
Earlier Tuesday, the police issued a statement that the Petito case was now officially under a “criminal investigation”.
In the press release published on Tuesday evening Norwegian time, the police say that they are working to find out what is the cause of Petito’s death and who is behind the possible murder.
Police are looking for the girlfriend of the 22-year-old. He describes them as “a person of interest”.
They have searched for several days where his parents have said that he went for a walk a week ago and never came back, writes Insider.
– Anyone who has information about Laundrie’s role about this and where he is now, is asked to contact the FBI, they write in the press release.
Vacation
In July, Petito (22) and his girlfriend went on holiday in a converted van to visit national parks in the United States. According to posts on the couple’s accounts on social media, the goal was to reach Oregon by the end of October.
Petito has more than 600,000 followers on Instagram. There she has published several photos with her boyfriend on the car holiday.
The couple was in the mighty Grand Teton National Park when the 22-year-old suddenly broke contact with the family.
On September 1, girlfriend Laundrie showed up in her home state of Florida, without Petito and long before planned. He has since refused to speak to both Petito’s family and the police, and the latter is now looking for him.
