“Family tree research” in Stuttgart: Kretschmann and the word that never came up

Mhe view of the Stuttgart riot night in June recently complained to Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann of Baden-Württemberg: If it is now said that the majority of the suspects are migrants, it is a much too “rough term”. And referred to the fact that some of the alleged perpetrators drove up “with giant sledges”. Kretschmann therefore asked: “After the summer break, I want to know exactly which milieus the perpetrators come from so that we can act in the long term.”

But that is exactly what has now led to a conflict, at the center of which is the Stuttgart police and which initially revolved around one word: “family tree research”. Because shortly after Kretschmann’s words, police chief Franz Lutz announced in front of the Stuttgart city council:
