COVID vaccination in CDMX advances at a snail’s pace … and there are 4 ‘forgotten’ municipalities – El Financiero

The Government of Mexico City slowed down the vaccination process against COVID-19, since during the last three weeks the percentage of the 18-year-old adult population that has received at least one dose of the antigen has remained at 90 percent.

Meanwhile, young people between the ages of 18 and 29 from four mayoralties of the capital (Coyoacán, Iztapalapa, Álvaro Obregón and Azcapotzalco) have not received a first dose and so far there is no scheduled date for its inoculation.

It was since last August 22 when the capital government began with a slow advance in vaccination, since in a week, from that date to August 27, only 79 thousand 340 doses were applied, leaving the vaccination rate at a static 89 percent for two consecutive weeks.

However, according to data from the capital’s Ministry of Health, it was on September 3 when vaccination coverage of 90 percent of the population was reached with at least one dose and it has remained that way for the last three weeks.

From the week of September 3 to September 11 of the same month only 61 inoculations were applied, while for the 18th, the last report from last week, there were only 25 thousand 537 new doses applied.

On the other hand, the percentage of people who have a complete vaccination scheme in Mexico City during the last three weeks increased from 50 to 61 percent.

More than 15 million COVID vaccines remain unimplemented at the federal level

At the federal level there are a total of 96 million 80 thousand 633 doses applied with a total of 67 thousand 920 doses lost.

Meanwhile, since December 23, 2020, 111 million 451 thousand 615 doses of the COVID vaccine have arrived in Mexico, for which there is a missing of at least 15 million 303 thousand 62 doses of the antigen that have not been applied.

Previously, the Undersecretary of Prevention and Health Promotion, Hugo López-GatellHe assured that the “missing doses” are due to a failure in the vaccination registry, since in rural areas there is difficult access to the internet and it is not possible to register the vaccines applied in real time.
