INFO THE DISPATCH. Near Toulouse, teenagers rob an Uber driver to try to steal his car

Armed with a pistol and a knife, two young people aged 16 and 19 patiently wait for their target. They hope to steal his car and why not his recipe. But their extortion attempt fails.

These facts date back to January 23, in the town of Balma, north of Toulouse. That evening, two young girls in their 15s order an Uber to take them to a friend’s house. The driver picks them up and drops them off as planned in Balma. He does not suspect that he has just fallen into a long-prepared trap. On the spot, two individuals offer him coke. A way to divert his attention certainly. Then they point a gun to his head a few minutes later to steal his sedan. Despite the stress of the situation, the driver maintains his composure. He accelerates and suddenly leaves the scene, safe and sound.

After his complaint, the Toulouse prosecutor’s office entrusted the investigations to the community of brigades of Balma, assisted by the research brigade of the Saint-Michel gendarmerie company.

A fake gun

The investigation carried out by the military made it possible to quickly identify the authors of this ambush. These are young people accustomed to causing trouble north of Toulouse. Three of them are minors, they are barely 15 and 16 years old. The other, considered the mastermind of the operation, is 19 years old. After their arrests on Tuesday, the gendarmes also searched their home. And they find the weapon that was certainly used for this extortion attempt. This is an Airsoft pistol. In one of the apartments, the police also seize drugs. This confirms that at least two of the suspects would also be involved in drug trafficking.

This Wednesday evening, the three minors were indicted for this extortion attempt. As for the major, he should be tried this Thursday in immediate appearance.
