Indonesia’s Foreign Minister Retno Marsudi has expressed her determination to ensure that ASEAN remains relevant and essential for the Southeast Asian community during the upcoming 42nd ASEAN Summit, which will take place from May 9-11, 2023, in Labuan Bajo, East Nusa Tenggara. Marsudi believes that ASEAN’s unity is crucial for maintaining peace and stability in the region and for Southeast Asia to continue to be the center of global economic growth. Negotiations for the summit are currently underway at the senior official meetings level, and discussions will continue until shortly before the summit day. The summit will see discussions between ASEAN leaders and various stakeholders, including the parliament, youth, and business community. President Joko Widodo will chair seven of the eight meetings, while the BIMP-EAGA meeting will be led by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim.
