India Unveils World’s Largest Passenger Elevator at Jio World Center in Mumbai

India has made history by getting an amazing innovation, which is the world’s largest passenger elevator which is placed in the Jio World Center Building in Mumbai. Installed in 2022 by the famous Finnish elevator company, KONE, this elevator has an impressive size.

With an area of ​​25.78 square meters, this elevator is equivalent to a studio-type apartment. However, size is not the only thing that makes it special. The weight of this lift reaches 16 tons, supported by nine strong steel cables to carry this heavy load.

The capacity is very large, this lift can carry up to 235 people at the same time. Unbelievable!

The interior of this elevator is also luxuriously designed, equipped with four-panel glass doors, a crystal ceiling, and two sofas in the elevator that allow them to relax while enjoying their ride .

One of the main advantages of this lift is the use of a modern pulley bearing system, consisting of 18 large pulleys and 9 steel cables, as well as strong rails mounted on top of the steel columns. Even though it only works on five floors, this lift offers a smooth path at a speed of 1 meter per second, ensuring the comfort and safety of the passengers.

Amit Gossain, Managing Director of KONE Elevators India, expressed his pride in the team’s collaboration India and global project experts in designing and building these lifts.

The price of this particular upgrade has not been disclosed. But since this lift was ordered by Reliance Industries, the largest private company in India, the price is sure to be expensive.
