Incidence constant above 10: Leipzig tightened corona rules

In Leipzig, citizens have to adhere to stricter corona requirements again. Above all, contact restrictions and the mask requirement are tightened.

After Dresden, Leipzig is also tightening the corona rules again. From Tuesday, masks must be worn again when shopping in the trade fair city and in some other areas. The reason: The corona incidence there on Sunday (August 1) was above the decisive 10 limit for the fifth day in a row. Contact restrictions also apply again and test obligations, as the city administration announced on Monday.

In Dresden, stricter corona rules have been in effect again since Saturday because the infection rate there is above the 10 limit. The other regions in Saxony are currently all well below 10.

Saxony was the first federal state to relax the mask requirement in retail. Since July 16, customers have been allowed to go to shops without a mask – if the incidence is below 10 and if there is enough distance. You can also move around without a mask in bars, hotels or cultural sites.

Restrictions on private meetings and celebrations

Only a maximum of ten people are allowed to meet in Leipzig and Dresden. Family celebrations, marriages and funerals are only permitted for up to 50 people, not counting those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered.

On Monday, the Robert Koch Institute (RKI) reported the value of new infections per 100,000 inhabitants within a week for Leipzig with 12.8 and for Dresden with 9.9. Before the mask requirement for shopping falls again, the incidence value in the region must again be below 10 for five consecutive days.
