“On the morning of May 12, the servicemen of the border post in the Odessa region tracked down the presence of the missile corvette of the Russian Black Sea Fleet, Pavel Derzhavin, 19 miles east of the city of Chernomorsk, Odessa region,” Gumenyuk said.
After finding the vessel, the border guards interrogated it by radio using the radar of the coastal border post and received the answer that it was “Bugel 363”.
“This is the call sign of the patrol ship of the Black Sea Fleet of the Russian Federation with tail number 363 – the missile corvette Pavel Derzhavin,” Gumenyuk explained.
After being detected by the radar, the RF corvette set off in the direction of the annexed Crimea.
Border guards do not exclude that the corvette could stay off the coast of Chernomorsk, as it was accompanied by the US Coast Guard frigate Hamilton (WLC753), which left Odessa on the evening of May 11.
Recall that earlier Russia created complications for ship maneuvers… The Russian side traditionally left unanswered requests for compliance with international norms for safe navigation, Ukrainian border guards noted.
