In Junín they are horrified by Rosa’s femicide: her body was found at a construction site

The body of Rosa Inés Fernández, the 29-year-old woman who was missing since July 26 in the Buenos Aires city of Junín, was found today wrapped in a tarp and buried in a construction site where her former partner worked, detained since yesterday, judicial and police sources informed.

The news horrified the entire city and that is why thousands of people – mostly women – mobilized through the streets demanding justice, but above all, that it never happen again.

The key testimony to clarify the case was that of the current partner of the detainee Sandro González (40), a woman who also suffered gender violence by the accused and to whom he told how he had killed his ex, said sources of the investigation .

Meanwhile, the Junín prosecutor in charge of the case, Esteban Perdernera, explained that the discovery occurred this morning during an operation that began around 7 in a construction site where the detainee worked, located on Syria Street. 624, from Junín, in which he participated, along with police and municipal personnel and specially summoned criminal experts from La Plata.

The place had been marked the night before after three witnesses declared that they had knowledge that Rosa had been murdered and buried there, one meter from the surface, under a wall that divides two courtyards of that house under construction.

“Yesterday the fence began to close, a strong testimony appeared that we could corroborate with other testimonies and at 7:30 p.m. I ordered the urgent arrest of the accused and from that moment we began to plan the search for the body because it was very categorical that Rosa was dead” said the prosecutor.

A spokesman who participated in the investigation revealed that the first to sow suspicions about González was his current partner, who in a brief statement before the Justice said that he had some doubts about González, who feared him because he was violent towards her and that he called the Attention the disappearance of a cover that they had bought for a car that they had recently acquired and that was finally one of the elements used to wrap Rosa’s body.

Yesterday, two other witnesses, neighbors of González, appeared at the prosecutor’s office to declare that his partner had told them about the confession he had made, which ended up closing the story that, finally, was ratified by the wife of the accused last night.

The prosecutor said that everything indicates that the femicide was committed on Sunday, July 26 at González’s home, where there was an argument between the two members of the ex-partner – who had three children in common, ages 4, 9 and 13 – for an “economic question”.

“We have referenced that (González) received a slap and he takes her by the neck, at the moment he feels that he fades, falls to his feet and there he tells of having wrapped her in a blanket that he used to cover the car and in a light blue canvas. He loaded it into the trunk of the car and the next day he took advantage of the fact that he was working on the construction site, dug the well and buried it, “said Pedernera.

The prosecutor said that there were no judicial complaints for gender violence against Rosa, although during the investigation elements emerged about the violent relationship they had maintained at least since they had separated.

Pedernera reported that the victim’s body was sent to the judicial morgue so that during this day the autopsy could be carried out and that in principle the hypothesis is that Rosa was hanged manually.

He also announced that tomorrow he will investigate González for the crime of homicide classified by the link and for mediating gender violence and that after that he will request his formal arrest to the Judge of Guarantees of Junín Marisa Muñoz Saggese.

Finally, the prosecutor said that he believes that González acted alone, since Rosa was of a small physical build -1.50 meters tall and 40 kilos in weight-, while he is a worker and previously worked as a lumberjack in the mountains of Santiago, for which would not have needed help from anyone to load it, move it to the work and bury it.

Regarding the current partner of the detainee, the prosecutor said that on the day of Rosa’s crime she had gone to the city of Lincoln to visit a sister, as usual, so there is no suspicion that she participated in the event or helped to cover it up.
