United Kingdom Defense Secretary Ben Wallace called Russia the enemy and the “number one threat” to Britain. On Saturday, May 22, he stated this in an interview with the newspaper The Sunday Telegraph.
“We tried to de-escalate, we tried various methods, but at the moment, until Russia changes its behavior, it is quite difficult to understand where we are going,” he stressed.
The head of the Ministry of Defense also noted the excessive, in his opinion, the activity of Russian ships near the British borders.
“We are regularly visited by Russian ships poking their noses, we are regularly visited by a large number of Russian warships,” the head of the British Defense Ministry said.
“We saw a Russian submarine in the Irish Sea, which I think we have not seen for a very long time,” he added.
As a reminder, the leaders of the EU countries at a special meeting in Brussels on May 24-25, 2021 will hold a strategic debate on Russia and discuss her illegal and provocative steps.
Formerly the Russian government approved the list of “unfriendly countries”, who will be prohibited from hiring Russian citizens to work in embassies. The United States and the Czech Republic have so far entered this list. According to the document, the Czech Republic can conclude employment contracts with only 19 individuals in Russia, and the United States – with no one.
